The Ultimate Kids Birthday Party Planning Guide for Waunakee & Verona

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're staring down a birthday and trying to figure out how to make it memorable without losing your mind in the process. I get it. I've thrown more kids' parties than I can count — both as a parent and as the owner of Go Ninja. And I'll be honest with you: a ninja party is the easiest great party you'll ever throw.

Here's why, and here's everything you need to know to make it happen.

Why a Ninja Party Works

The number one problem with most kids' birthday parties is keeping the kids engaged. You rent a space, set up some decorations, and then spend two hours trying to herd a group of hyped-up children through activities that half of them aren't interested in. It's exhausting.

A ninja party flips that completely. The obstacles ARE the entertainment. Kids don't need to be told what to do — they see the warped wall, the monkey bars, the cargo nets, and they're gone. Every single kid finds something that excites them, regardless of age or ability. The energy manages itself.

Parents who've booked parties at both our Waunakee and Verona locations consistently tell us the same thing: "That was the easiest party we've ever done." That's not an accident. We designed the experience specifically so parents can actually enjoy the celebration instead of running it.

What's Included

Here's exactly what you get with a Go Ninja birthday party:

  • 1 hour and 45 minutes of total party time — that's a full hour on the ninja course plus 45 minutes in your private party room
  • Up to 20 kids — plenty of room for the whole class or friend group
  • A dedicated party host — one of our trained coaches runs the entire ninja portion so you don't have to lift a finger
  • A private party room — set up and ready for cake, presents, pizza, whatever you want to bring
  • Full setup and cleanup — we handle it all. You show up, you celebrate, you leave
  • All of this for $279

That price covers the whole group. No per-kid add-ons, no hidden fees. You bring the cake and food, and we handle literally everything else.

How to Book

Booking is straightforward. Head to our birthday parties page and pick your preferred location — Waunakee or Verona. You'll choose a date and time from our available slots. Weekend afternoons fill up fastest, especially during spring and fall, so I'd recommend booking at least 3-4 weeks out if you have a specific date in mind.

After you book, we'll send a confirmation email with everything you need: the address, what to bring, and a digital invitation you can forward to your guest list. If you have questions or special requests, just email us at contact@letsgoninja.com — we're real people and we respond fast.

Tips for a Great Party

We've hosted hundreds of birthday parties at this point, so here's what we've learned makes the difference between a good party and a great one:

Arrive 10-15 Minutes Early

This gives you time to set up the party room with any decorations, food, or gifts before the guests arrive. Your party host will meet you, walk you through the schedule, and make sure everything is ready. It also means you're not scrambling when kids start showing up.

Remind Guests About Grip Socks

Every kid on the course needs grip socks — these are socks with rubber grips on the bottom for safety. Include a note in your invitation so parents know ahead of time. We do sell grip socks at the front desk if anyone forgets, but it's smoother when everyone comes prepared. Athletic clothes are a must too — no jeans, no dresses, nothing that restricts movement.

Let the Host Run the Show

Your dedicated party host is trained to manage the group, keep kids safe, and make sure every child has a blast on the course. Trust them. You don't need to organize games or activities — that's literally what we're here for. Use that hour to take photos, chat with other parents, and actually enjoy watching your kid have the time of their life.

Plan Your Cake Timing

The ninja portion comes first, then the group moves to the private party room. Kids will be hungry and thirsty after an hour of climbing and swinging, so this is the perfect time for pizza, snacks, and cake. We recommend having food ready in the party room before the ninja session ends so there's a smooth transition. Forty-five minutes in the party room is plenty for eating, cake, and opening presents if you choose to do that at the party.

Don't Stress the Details

Seriously. The obstacles do the heavy lifting. You don't need elaborate decorations or a Pinterest-perfect setup. The kids are there to be ninjas, and they will remember swinging across the course and conquering the warped wall long after they've forgotten what color the tablecloth was.

What Parents Say

The feedback we get from birthday party families is consistently our favorite thing to read. Parents are relieved by how easy it was. Kids talk about it for weeks. And the birthday kid feels like an absolute star because they got to share their favorite place with all their friends.

If you're on the fence, I'd say just book it. It's the kind of party where you'll walk out thinking, "Why didn't we do this sooner?" Whether you're in Waunakee, Verona, or anywhere in the greater Madison area, we'd love to make your kid's next birthday one they won't stop talking about.
